The Green-Whites' injury concerns just will not end as Claudio Pizarro had to leave training Wednesday morning early and may miss the end of the season. "Claudio broke off training with suspicion of a tear," confirmed manager Klaus Allofs.
Pizarro‘s summer schedule
Should an MRI in the afternoon confirm a longer break for Pizarro, then the fans will have to do without the Werder striker for some time. Regardless of him playing in the final Bundesliga match Saturday afternoon in Kaiserslautern, 'Piza' will not be available to the Green-Whites for the up-coming test matches. "Claudio will leave for holidays already on Sunday," said Allofs. The reason is that Pizarro plans on playing for Peru at the Copa America. "He will take three weeks of holidays and then go into his individual preparations before preparing for the tournament with the Peruvian national team," added Allofs. The manager spoke of a "good solution" as Pizarro is just pushing up his holiday and will return to Werder training after Peru are eliminated.
There was positive news about Aaron Hunt, who has been out with back pain. Schaaf said Hunt has been able to increase his training program and "did more" during an individual workout on Wednesday. It remains to be seen when he and the other banged up players can return to team training. The next chance comes Thursday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
