Two new faces were on board as the Werder troops arrived Sunday afternoon in Zell am Ziller for the second training camp of the on-going preparations. Both the Greek international Sokratis, who ended his Euro 2012 holiday, and new acquisition Johannes Wurtz, who missed out last week injured, are with the team in Austria. Due to the heavy recent rains, Werder came across partially difficult pitch conditions. But the weather should be better. Also on hand were Assani Lukimya (recent muscular problems) and Tom Trybull (gastro-intestinal issues).
The work day began for the whole team at 10 a.m. as head coach Thomas Schaaf called his team to training after an off-day on Saturday. While Hunt, Fritz and company played a training game, Sokratis had to make up his lactate test on the Platz 11 grounds. That meant perfect conditions for Schaaf in Zillertal. "We already have a pretty full roster now. That is of course perfect for the work with the team. In addition to the conditioning sessions, we will increasingly work on football drills and give the fine tuning to our team," said Schaaf.
