Head coach Viktor Skripnik would not tip his hand at the press conference before the match on Thursday - at least in regards to his personnel situation and tactical line-up for the away match in Mainz on Saturday. Despite a number of banged up players, the Werder coach is hoping to have a full selection of players for the roster nomination. "Everyone wants to play. We have a top fit roster so it will not be easy to make a decision," said Skripnik.

The 44-year-old coach can definitely rely on striker Franco Di Santo, who returned to team training Thursday afternoon and didn't have any problems. Captain Clemens Fritz, who also was back in training, will have to see in the final training session on Friday if his left knee ligament holds up and if he is available. Zlatko Junuzovic meanwhile is still out with a tendon irritation in his knee and Eljero Elia completed an individual session with Philipp Bargfrede and Julian van Haacke after his thigh injury.

Only Marnon Busch is definitely out with an infection that is keeping him off the pitch. Skripnik said an appearance for the right back is out of the question. The coach said the final decision will be made after the final training. "We will see in training who is fit and ready," said Skripnik. "The players are going all out and there's a lot of fire and passion there. The guys are trying everything to implement everything immediately," added the coach.
