Aaron Hunt could hardly see the treadmill anymore. The Werder midfielder had run countless kilometres on the device in the fitness room. In addition there were the coordinative drills. And he could not really imagine moving his rehab program outside as he has been fighting a tendon injury since the beginning of the year. But it was finally time Wednesday morning 14 March 2012 as Hunt was "freed". The 25-year-old and physiotherapist Sven Plagge went through a running session on the track at the Platz 11 grounds. "It's nice that I can finally run outside again. I feel good and hope to get back to team training quickly, especially in light of our personnel situation," said Hunt after the first few meters run.
There was also an all-clear for Werder captain Clemens Fritz. The 31-year-old fell unluckily to the ground and right on his lower arm. But he was back on the pitch one day later. "I was checked out. Nothing is broken, just a bruise. I could go through the session without any problems," said Fritz. Also back on the training grounds were the previously banged up Philipp Bargfrede (charley horse), Zlatko Junuzovic (calf) and Francois Affolter (gastro intestinal virus).
