The "12th man" at Monday afternoon training was not the Werder fans for a change because there were only 12 players on the Weser Stadium training grounds.
In addition to the players who are on national team duty, also missing from training were Philipp Bargfrede (see News), Felix Kroos, Aleksandar Ignjovski, Özkan Yildirim and Lukas Schmitz. While the other aforementioned players worked out individually in the weight room or with physiotherapist, Schmitz was out for personal reasons.
Also not with the 12 remaining players on the pitch was head coach Robin Dutt. The coach took part in a coaches conference in Wolfsburg on Monday while his assistant Damir Buric led the training.
The Werder players were due to train twice on Tuesday at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., with head coach Robin Dutt back on the pitch.
