Usually training days after matches feature a light run-down but Werder coach Viktor Skripnik had his players come to the training pitch a day after the 3-2 victory over Hannover 96. On the schedule was an intensive match on the smaller field and football tennis.
Skripnik had to make do without Fin Bartels who had to leave the session shortly after the warm-up. "Someone stepped on my toe in the match yesterday. It hurt a little bit in the football boots so therefore I stopped out of precautionary reasons. But I assume that I will be able to train normally in the coming days," the offensive player said afterwards.
Also not on the pitch but in the Weser Stadium weight room were left backs Santiago Garcia and Janek Sternberg as well as Philipp Bargfrede. Julian von Haacke meanwhile was at least able to take part in the running part of the session with his teammates - a important, additional motivation on the long road back from a torn knee ligament last April.
