Marko Arnautovic could not train Thursday with his shin and calf bruising and will likely miss the home match Saturday against Bayern Munich. "It looks like he will not be available," said head coach Thomas Schaaf at the press conference before the game.
Arnautovic is not the only player who will likely be out for Bremen over the weekend. In addition to the long-term injured players, Daniel Jensen (knee problems) and Dominik Schmidt (muscle tear) also will miss the game against the record German champions. "The situation for both has improved but it doesn't look like it will be enough for the weekend," said assistant coach Wolfgang Rolff.
"Team wants to do better"
"We are very concentrated on our work and are not really looking at FC Bayern," said Schaaf, who has seen a "reaction on the pitch" after last weekend's loss at Cologne. "You can tell that the team wants to do things better. What's important is that we have successful results in doing so," added the coach. Successful challenges, shots in training games or just winning a sprint - Schaaf hopes these small positive moments can show the team that a big success on Saturday is possible.
