Focus on the ball, take two or three steps to the left and dive - Tim Wiese was able to come up with some excellent saves just minutes after the start of training. "Everything went optimally. I was finally back on the pitch and could train without limitations," said the 30-year-old keeper after nearly one and a half weeks away from football. The Werder keeper isn't showing any after-effects of the facial injury he suffered in the final training before the away match against Borussia Dortmund.
"He is fully back," said head coach Thomas Schaaf about the return of his keeper Tuesday morning. The same goes for Philipp Bargfrede as the defensive midfielder got back to team training after recovering from his left calf injury. "The session wasn't a problem at all. I didn't sense any pain in the calf. I can do everything again," said Bargfrede, who also suffered his injury before the game against Dortmund. Another full returnee to training was Claudio Pizarro, who last Sunday cut things short by running a few laps with Marko Marin. "The stiffness has gone. I am ready again," said ‘Piza'. Schaaf was happy that he was able to strike three names off his injured list. "I am happy about every player that comes back. But it's important that they stick to it and are consistently available and don't have to sit out last minute again," said Schaaf, who has dealt with plenty of that over recent weeks.
