When the Werder players entered the pitch Tuesday at 10 a.m., Claudio Pizarro and Wesley already had their first session of the day nearly completed. The two South Americans went through the next individual rehab program on their way to returning to team training. While the striker and midfielder both must be a bit more patient, another important player returned to team training on Tuesday.
Per Mertesacker completed an entire session after a small break on Sunday. His defensive colleague Sebastian Prödl needed to sit out due to problems in his calf and hip. Defender Petri Pasanen also had to sit out on Tuesday as the Finnish international is dealing with an infection. In addition Felix Kroos was not back with the team after his slight strain in the left thigh.
Schindler back
Meanwhile Kevin Schindler took part for the first time after months out injured. The 22-year-old striker, who is working his way back to his old strength, was happy about his comeback to the training grounds. "Naturally that did good. The club supported me the entire time and took the pressure off of me so that I could fully concentrate on my recovery. For that I am very thankful," said Schindler.
