Light rain, cold wind and just uncomfortable weather under the Bremen skies for Thursday afternoon training. Another two players, Torsten Frings and Marko Arnautovic, were able to make their return for head coach Thomas Schaaf after the duo were both out sick. It didn't matter at all to the Bremen captain Frings that the weather wasn't exactly very good for one's health. "Everything is okay. The weather is good enough," said Frings after the session.
Arnautovic also completed the training session without any problems after the Austrian recovered from his gastro intestinal issue and will be available this weekend for Werder. In addition to Frings and Arnautovic, internationals Tim Wiese and Petri Pasanen also returned to team training Thursday afternoon.
There was bad news about Philipp Bargrfrede. The 22-year-old will likely have to sit out this weekend for Werder as he is still suffering problems following his heel surgery two weeks ago. "We have to assume that he won't be available for us," said Schaaf about the midfielder. "It doesn't look good at the moment," added the coach, who will also be without the injured Claudio Pizarro.
Werder hope to take the next step in staving off relegation Saturday afternoon. And they will have the support of their fans as Weser Stadium is sold out with 40,500 tickets taken.
