A few rays of sunshine accompanied Werder's players during the Sunday morning session following the 4-0 derby loss at Hamburg. Claudio Pizarro and Wesley ran a few laps around the pitch with physiotherapist Sven Plagge.
Pizarro hopes to return to team training in the coming days to be available on the weekend. Things are a bit more cautious with Sebastian Prödl as the Austrian is dealing with a calf muscle issue and a problem in the right hip. "I have to see in the next few days how it develops. But I am confident that I will be fit by the Leverkusen game," said the centre back. Just like the Austrian, Per Mertesacker also worked on loosening up his muscles on Sunday in the catacombs of Weser Stadium instead of on the training pitch. The new training week and preparations for the Leverkusen match begin Monday morning at 10 a.m.
