Reports about Werder's 2-1 win over Freiburg spoke of a "dirty victory". But head coach Thomas Schaaf did not fully agree with the assessment upon the team's return to Bremen. "The victory was above all else a confirmation of our work," said Schaaf Thursday afternoon. The coach also had positive news about Sokratis while Niclas Füllkrug was optimistic about his return after missing the match in Freiburg.

"I will likely be able to train again tomorrow," said Füllkrug after an examination by team doctor Götz Dimanski. "I had some treatment today, now I am doing much better," said the young striker. The 19-year-old missed the game on Wednesday after getting injured at the final training. Mehmet Ekici was nominated for him at the last minute. Things are also looking up for defensive boss Sokratis. "I assume that he will be able to play against Munich," said Schaaf optimistically.

Joseph Akpala essentially swapped rolled with Nils Petersen compared to the VfB Stuttgart match and was subbed out for Petersen in the 67th minute. But Akpala received praise from the Bremen head coach. "He was very active in training and internalised our game ideas," said Schaaf. "This development was continued in the game as well." Just like his teammates from the starting line-up, Akpala will be back at tomorrow's final training ahead of the home match against Bayern Munich on Saturday 29 September 2012 at 3:30 p.m.
