Tim Borowski was hit with another setback as the Werder midfielder suffered a ligament injury in his left knee at Tuesday morning's team training and he could miss the rest of the season. Borowski had just returned to the pitch after getting past his ankle problems. "The foot is okay again," said the midfielder, who now has to deal with a knee issue. Borowski had to receive treatment from physiotherapist Holger Berger a number of times during the session. Further tests will determine the extent of the injury. "Of course, it's pretty brutal how many times I have been hit with injuries this season," said Boro. "Now we have to see how the healing process goes and how much time it will take."
While Borowski finished the Tuesday session with his teammates, Sandro Wagner had long left for the catacombs of Weser Stadium. The striker twisted his ankle in a challenge with teammate Philipp Bargfrede and could not continue training due to the severe pain. It remains unknown when the 23-year-old can lace up his football boots again - though an examination will take place Wednesday morning.
Marko Marin meanwhile did not even enter the pitch. The 22-year-old completed only an individual training with fitness coach Yann-Benjamin Kugel due to his ankle problems. "I have some issues with my ankle from the Pauli match and therefore took a break," said Marin, who hopes to go through sprint drills and different ball movements in his next test on Wednesday. There was positive news as well as Pascal Testroet returned to the pitch following his appendix surgery and a couple of days without training. The 20-year-old will very likely be available for the U23 team on the weekend against Sandhausen.
