It doesn't matter if now is the right time to play Bayern Munich or not. While Werder are playing for important points to stay in the Bundesliga, everything in Munich is focused on the return leg of the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid. So, the Green-Whites will have to bring their A game to get any points from the Bavarian capital.
Werder head coach Robin Dutt feels this way as well. He said the team will have to give their "maximum effort" to pick up any points. "We have to try to get into the challenges so they can't play their game. And then we also need some courage in attack," said Dutt at the official press conference Thursday afternoon.
Zlatko Junuzovic also emphasised how important a good challenge percentage will be for the match. "We have to be ready to run and race after the ball," said Juno, who will be back after sitting out a yellow card suspension. There was good and surprising news at Bremen's training grounds as Werder captain Clemens Fritz returned to team training Thursday afternoon. After being tackled by mistake by Philipp Bargfrede in the home match against Hoffenheim, the coaching staff had assumed Fritz would miss one or two weeks. But the left knee tendon injury healed quicker than expected.
That means the veteran could play again on Saturday against Bayern Munich. "If he survives both of the final sessions, he naturally is an option," said Dutt about Fritz. The same goes for Felix Kroos. The defensive midfielder would make his first game roster since a knee capsule injury suffered on the 27th match day against VfL Wolfsburg.
