"Play better football" was the motto for Werder Bremen's first training session Tuesday following the Gladbach game in which Aaron Hunt took part. "Everything was okay" after recovering from his gastro intestinal problems, Hunt said. Things looked less good for Claudio Pizarro. "He has knee problems. Now we have to wait and see," said Werder coach Thomas Schaaf about Pizarro missing training. Schaaf would not say when the Peruvian would return to team training. Naldo meanwhile trained with slight limitations. "It has gotten better but it's not yet perfect," said the Brazilian defender about the after-effects of his bronchitis.
Leon Balogun worked with the U23s on his way back to the professional side. Sebastian Boenisch is also being integrated more and more into the team. "I have continued my individual program as part of the team training. I will now be worked back into the team and taken back out. It went really well today. It was a nice feeling to train with the team. But I am not putting any pressure on myself regarding a final return," said Boenisch after the "part-time" session with the Green-Whites.
