Luxury along the Weser, or more exact on the training grounds of Weser Stadium! At least that's the feeling when you look at SV Werder Bremen's personnel situation now compared to the past couple weeks. Head coach Thomas Schaaf had 24 players in training Thursday afternoon 22 March 2012. After having as few as 11 players available recently, Schaaf spoke somewhat ironically of a "luxury" problem. The training group has been bumped up in numbers by the returns of past injured or banged up players Mehmet Ekici, Marko Marin, Florian Trinks and Sokratis.
"I didn't have any pain, the session was really good. Nothing stands in the way of me playing on Saturday," said Ekici, who completed Thursday's training without any problems. "Naldo will stick around," said Schaaf at the official midday press conference, referring to the fact that his defender will go through a second complete session. And the Brazilian completed the afternoon training without any problems. There are still some players not available, those being Tim Wiese, Sebastian Prödl, Aaron Hunt, Marko Arnautovic and Tim Borowski.
Meanwhile, there was a special praise for Florian Hartherz. "Flo has really added his excitement. He always wants to give his all and is playing better and better. We need this kind of player," said manager Klaus Allofs about the Werder talent.
