The flu epidemic has its grip on all of Germany and SV Werder were hit with another patient. After Aaron Hunt, who is finally fit again, and Sokratis, the flu bug has now found Clemens Fritz. The Werder captain was not able to take part in Friday's final training and will miss the match against Bayern Munich. "Clemens is sick and will not make the trip. There is no hope that he could get fit at the last second. It looked like that yesterday and it was unfortunately confirmed today," said head coach Thomas Schaaf.
The Werder coach will definitely not have available the services of defensive boss Sokratis, who has been out sick since last Tuesday. Schaaf had hoped yesterday that the Greek international could be on board but after a one-hour session in the afternoon, it was clear that he would not travel to Munich.
Flu patient number three Hunt, meanwhile, has been given the green light to play. After saying on Thursday that he didn't feel weak anymore, the Bremen playmaker trained without any limitations on Friday. "Everything is good," said Hunt after the session. Also on hand for the match will be Theo Gebre Selassie. The Czech international could possibly make an appearance wearing a sleeve bearing the Czech flag. "Bayern at the moment are the best team in the league, maybe even Europe. We have to play like a tight team, like AC Milan against Barcelona," said Gebre Selassie, referring to Milan's 2-0 victory over Barcelona in the Champions League. "Then we can also win against Munich," said the Czech defender.
These 18 players hope to pick up at least one point in Munich:
Mielitz, Strebinger - Pavlovic, Lukimya, De Bruyne, Arnautovic, Ekici, Elia, Schmitz, Hunt, Prödl, Junuzovic, Ignjovski, Akpala, Gebre Selassie, Petersen, Trybull and Yildirim.
