Shortly before the final team training of the season, three Werder players are doing much better. Zlatko Junuzovic, Philipp Bargfrede and Mehmet Ekici want to head into the summer break completely fit. "Juno" and Bargfrede both completed two individual sessions on Monday. In the morning, they had easy training with the ball while they had running training in the afternoon with Onur Ayik.
Junuzovic would have liked to have trained with his teammates already last week. "I am taking things a little slower because of my appearance with the national team. It is purely a precautionary measure. We want to be certain that the injury correctly heals. Everything feels good. I don't think I will miss the game for Austria. On Thursday I will be travelling to the team with Basti Prödl and Marko Arnautovic," said "Juno" after the session.
Bargfrede is also nearly without pain. The midfielder suffered an injury against Mainz on the 28th game day. In the following running training, problems with the Achilles tendon arose. "I have been completely without pain for a week. I am practicing a bit more day by day and I have a very good feeling that everything will hold up. But I won't head to holidays until I am completely pain free and really fit again," said the midfielder.
Mehmet Ekici will also postpone his holidays. "I will remain in Bremen in the summer break and work on getting fit again as quickly as possible. Only then will I go into holidays," said the Turkish international Monday on his way into Weser Stadium. "I can now run without pain and will train more extensively soon."
Ekici underwent a groin operation in early April and then rehabbed at Links der Weser hospital. Now the 22-year-old wants to prepare for the coming season in the training rooms at Weser Stadium.
