With Marin but without Naldo to Gladbach

Naldo lost his race against time. “He is not yet far enough,” said Thomas Schaaf.

Thomas Schaaf shaking his head during a chat with Naldo after the final training on Friday 18 November 2011 did not appear like a very positive sign. And it proved true shortly thereafter as the Brazilian centre back announced he would be out for the game at Borussia Mönchengladbach. "I will not be on hand and will stay in Bremen," said Naldo.

There is no other option from Schaaf's viewpoint. "You could see that he's not far enough," said the coach. The Bremen defensive boss did hold through training on Thursday and Friday but the top showdown in Gladbach would be too early after his case of bronchitis.

The situation is much better with Claudio Pizarro and Marko Marin. The Peruvian returned healthy from the national team break and would like to continue his strong recent play at Borussia Park. Marin is also looking forward to his game against his former club on Saturday 19 November 2011 at 3:30 p.m. (live ticker starting at 3:15 p.m. on WERDER.DE). He played for Gladbach for four years, living in the stadium's academy. And the midfield maestro is fit again right on time for the match-up with his former teammates. "What's important is that Marko has normal movements again. Things look very natural with him," said Schaaf.

The match against Gladbach is also something special for Aaron Hunt. He was the youngest goal scorer in Werder history at 18 years 361 days. "I live to think back on that naturally. The first Bundesliga goal is a great experience for every player," said Hunt, who helped Werder win their last match in Gladbach with a 4-1 victory.

Schaaf nominated the following players for the Bundesliga game at Borussia Mönchengladbach: Wiese, Mielitz, Fritz, Sokratis, Wolf, Prödl, Schmitz, Aleksandar Stevanovic, Ekici, Bargfrede, Ignjovski, Hunt, Marin, Rosenberg, Pizarro, Arnautovic, Wagner
