The match on Saturday against VfB Stuttgart is not that long ago and the next away match at Freiburg is already right around the corner. There are only three training sessions left to prepare for Freiburg before the next Bundesliga contest on Friday. Lukas Schmitz and Eljero Elia were both missing at the start of the short week of training.

Nils Petersen meanwhile returned to team training after missing Sunday's session with a gastro-intestinal infection. After one day of bed rest, the 25-year-old striker was back on the training grounds on Monday ready to attack. "Everything is okay again," said Petersen afterwards.

Elia suffered a bruised toe on Sunday and missed Monday's afternoon session. And Schmitz missed the training due to private reasons.

Santiago Garcia is currently labouring with a partially torn knee ligament but discussed his comeback plans with WERDER.DE. "I am already doing a lot better. I don't have any pain. Right now I am going through running training but only on the treadmill. But I will increase the program daily and hope to be able to return to team training after the Wolfsburg match," said the Argentinean optimistically.
