Running laps around the pitch with Werder physiotherapists is done. Santiago Garcia trained again with the team again Monday afternoon, at least partially. Aaron Hunt, Sebastian Prödl and Zlatko Junuzovic, however, all had to sit out.
"It would nice if he returned to team training this week," said Werder coach Robin Dutt after the afternoon training, referring to Garcia, who worked out individually with athletics coach Reinhard Schnittker after warming up together with the team. The Argentinean continually sprinted past his teammates with Schnittker and looking over every now and again. Everybody knew what was on his mind. The left back wants to return fully to team training as quickly as possible.
Clemens Fritz returned to training last week but the Werder captain did not make the game roster against Gladbach as the match came too soon. "He told me before the Gladbach match that he still feels a strain. He is 33 years old now and knows his body best. With this large offering of players, we can still make do without him. But I think that he will be fit enough this week that I can nominate him for the roster against Frankfurt," hopes Dutt.
Aaron Hunt, Zlatko Junuzovic and Sebastian Prödl meanwhile all missed the training sessions. While Hunt remains out with the flu, Junuzovic and Prödl both are dealing with slight injuries from the Gladbach match. "It's solely a cautionary measure for Basti and Zladdi. Both received knocks but I think they will be back again tomorrow," said Dutt, who will call his team together on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
