Werder head coach Thomas Schaaf will have to make do without his defensive boss Sokratis and midfielder Aaron Hunt in the match Saturday against SC Freiburg. The Greek international has not trained since the middle of the week after getting hit with the flu, also missing the final training. Hunt also sat out of Friday's training with the flu.
"We had missed a couple of other players already during the week. Now we hope that it doesn't get worse in the coming days," said Werder's coach less than excited not even 24 hours before the match Saturday at Weser Stadium at 3:30 p.m.
Theodor Gebre Selassie (broken metatarsal) will also miss the match with Tom Trybull and Florian Hartherz moving into the game squad. Hartherz was nominated for the fifth time this season for the Bundesliga game squad. Özkan Yildirim could also make the third appearance of his young professional career against Freiburg. The 19-year-old came up with his first Bundesliga assist in the last home match against Hannover 96.
These 18 players are looking to continue the undefeated streak at home Freiburg: Mielitz, Strebinger - Pavlovic, Lukimya, De Bruyne, Arnautovic, Fritz, Ekici, Elia, Schmitz, Prödl, Junuzovic, Ignjovski, Akpala, Petersen, Trybull, Hartherz and Yildirim.
