An entirely normal training situation led in the end to the worst moment during Wednesday's training session. Clemens Fritz played the ball to Eljero Elia, ran behind the Dutchman and as he got the ball back, he stopped his sprint. After a brief chat with head coach Robin Dutt, the 33-year-old team captain left the training grounds. On the way to the changing room, Fritz revealed what the problem is. "The left thigh is causing me problems," said Fritz.

The captain visited team doctor Götz Dimanski later in the afternoon and the diagnosis was muscular problems in the left thigh. Whether or not the right back can play on Friday against Hertha Berlin will depend on the final training session on Thursday. "Clemens will go through an individual program tomorrow. We will decide tomorrow if it's enough to play against Berlin," Dutt told WERDER.DE.

As far as Aaron Hunt goes, the Bremen leader was able to return just one day after missing training due to a cold. Dutt hopes that the offensive midfielder will be fully fit on Friday against Berlin. "Aaron was not yet 100 percent fit today. I hope that he feels quite a bit better tomorrow in order to be fully ready for Friday," said the coach.

Sebastian Prödl, Predrag Stevanovic and Aleksandar Ignjovski all took major steps forward as well in training. ‘Iggy' was back on the training grounds for the first time since his hardened muscle while Prödl and Stevanovic were back on Tuesday and already did their first drills with the team on Wednesday. The duo did not take part in the second training session, working out individually on their fitness and coordination with athletic coach Reinhard Schnittker.
