The fourth day of training on Norderney had more to offer than just the introduction of Eljero Elia. The Dutchman was shown in his first training session that he will have to find his place in a highly-motivated training group. "Losing not allowed!" is the motto for almost every training drill.
Elia spent the morning trying to get past Mehmet Ekici in some heated challenges. There were not only slide tackles, pressing, and challenges but also clapping hands, motivation and patting of shoulders. There is really a good mood on Norderney these days. But captain Clemens Fritz had to miss training on Tuesday as he stayed at the team quarters with a slight infection. "It's nothing bad. I have a slight temperature if I strain myself. I hope that I can get back tomorrow or the next day," said Fritz. But there will not be a hole in the training group as the next newcomer is expected on the island. Theodor Gebre Selassie cut short his holiday on his own initiative and is expected on the island with the ferry at 8:30 p.m.
