Marko Arnautovic stood in the spotlight at the start of the training week ahead of the final Bundesliga match of the season. After not being called for the game squad against Dortmund, the Austrian wants to make up the ground he lost. Manager Klaus Allofs recently made some demands. "The same goes for Marko as for all the other players. We need players on the pitch who identify themselves with the career of being a footballer, someone who fully concentrates on his work as professional footballer. The coach wanted to emphasise that one more time and made that sign on Saturday. And I totally support him," said Allofs. "We accepted requirements with the signature of the contract and the same goes for Marko as well." Allofs however said management still has patience with Arnautovic. "He has to signal to us that he would like to learn from his mistakes. As long as he does that we will continue to try it with him."

Four days ahead of the game, the Austrian isn't the only thing in the middle of the attention. The personnel situation remains an issue as there was differing news about Arnautovic's attack partners. While Denni Avdic (following head injury) continues his improving trend and was able to train again after practicing on Friday, Sandro Wagner had to leave training early with an ankle knock. Wagner was sceptical on his way to the changing room. "I bit through it in the game and played on, but now the pain is just too much. It doesn't look good for Kaiserslautern. I think the season is over for me," said Wagner.

There are injury worries at other positions as well. Per Mertesacker received treatment on his heel on Tuesday. Aaron Hunt (back problems) and Tim Borowski (knee injury) were unable to take part in training. Head coach Thomas Schaaf took the situation in stride. "I am happy about any player that comes back. That has been the case all season. Why should it be any different before the 34th match day," said Schaaf.
