Werder players did not have any training on the pitch Thursday morning but rather took a bicycle tour in the countryside around training camp site Donaueschingen. The Green-Whites rode some 20 kilometres for about an hour along the edge of the Black Forest. The group was somewhat smaller in the afternoon for training on the pitch as both Tom Trybull and Felix Kroos had to sit out of practice.
"Both got knocks in the test match yesterday and had ankle problems," said head coach Thomas Schaaf after the session. Also not back at team training was Nils Petersen. "With him, it's getting better. But it's not far enough along to fully come back," added Schaaf.
Florian Hartherz meanwhile was back to team training after leaving training early a day earlier with ankle problems. "Everything is super. I am happy that nothing worse happened," said the 19-year-old, who will participate in the final session of the third training camp with his teammates on Friday morning. Afterwards, the Werder team will travel back to Bremen where the Day of the Fans takes place on Saturday.
