"Games without borders" was the motto for Tuesday afternoon 8 January 2013 with a fun and alternative program for the Werder players. Arnautovic, Hunt and Co. broke up into four groups to prove themselves in seven different stations testing the players' skills. Among the competitions were a bike obstacle course, a medicine ball throwing contest, sack races and other fun events.
"That was a good change, it was a lot of fun," said Assani Lukimya. "I am anxious to see who won. We don't know yet what the prizes are but we know that the losers must do something." Aleksandar Ignjovski also enjoyed the unusual session. "We had to climb through hurdles and shoot the ball into various parts of the goal for a different number of points - and all that in a competition. It was super," said Ignjovski. The winner of the "tournament" was to be named later at dinner.
The Green-Whites will take things much more seriously in tomorrow's final of the Tuttur Cup against VfL Wolfsburg (live at WERDER.TV). Head coach Thomas Schaaf has already said there will be some changes to his line-up as opposed to the victory over Trabzonspor. "We have the situation that we have to divvy up the playing time among the games we have in the training camp so that everyone gets their playing time," said Schaaf.
"So we will see a different team than the one against Trabzonspor," said the coach, who did not yet know if new winter acquisition Mateo Pavlovic will make his Werder debut against the Wolves. "We will have to see. We don't know yet, but there will be changes."
