Predrag Stevanovic suffered a torn lateral collateral ligament in his left knee in a challenge during training on Tuesday and will have to sit out indefinitely. The Werder medical staff came to the diagnosis after examining the 20-year-old on Wednesday. "I originally hoped it was only a strain but a slight tear could be seen on the pictures. I don't know how long I will be out but it will at least be a couple of weeks," said Stevanovic.
As expected, Greek defender Sokratis was rested for the Wednesday training. "Maybe we can have him back at team training on Thursday," said head coach Thomas Schaaf about his banged up centre back. Schaaf was able to welcome back to the training grounds his goalkeeper coach Michael Kraft who had suffered a foot tendon injury during training camp in Belek. "I still had slight problems with my supporting leg. I will certainly have some sore muscles. But otherwise I feel good," said Kraft.
