Franco Di Santo is back! The Argentinean finally returned to full team training on Thursday. And he showed straight away in the first session with his teammates that he always is in a good mood.
Di Santo couldn't overhear the irony when assistant coach Damir Buric continually called out "Santi" in the first minutes of training. The striker finally let Buric know that "Santi" is actually the nickname for Santiago Garcia and that he's called "Franco". Buric then joked: "Ah yeah, that's right, you're Franco. But you haven't been in training for so long."
Di Santo carried the joke over to the mixed zone after training, saying: "I still know my teammates' names. But all fun aside, Damir just wanted to joke around and I got it. Everyone really just laughed when he called me ‘Santi'."
It's not a joke though that Di Santo's status for the weekend is entirely unclear. Werder head coach Robin Dutt didn't know if the Argentinean was an option for the squad against Schalke. "That will be a last-second decision. I don't know Franco that well to know how he reacts to such an injury. I will have to wait until after the final training session tomorrow," said Dutt.
