The training week for the home highlight against Bayern Munich (Sat. 7 December 2013 at 3:30 p.m.) did not start without personnel problems. Head coach Robin Dutt had to make do without three players for the first training on Tuesday as Lukas Schmitz, Franco Di Santo and Özkan Yildirim all were out injured.
Schmitz got injured even before the Hoffenheim game and was replaced on the game squad in the last minute on Saturday by U23 player Torben Rehfeldt. The leftback suffered a muscle fibre tear behind his thigh. That means Schmitz will also likely miss next week.
Di Santo and Yildirim will not be out as long. Both offensive players missed Tuesday's afternoon training with hip problems. Dutt was certain that both players should be able to return to training later in the week. "Franco and Ötzi could not train today but will be able to return tomorrow or Thursday," said the coach. Dutt would not say if either would be options for a spot against Bayern.
