He was back making jokes and talking to teammates and especially kicking the ball. Marko Arnautovic returned to team training after overcoming his shin and calf bruising. "I am not yet totally pain-free, but it's okay," said the Austrian after the session Tuesday morning. Other Werder players were able to return to the training grounds as well.
Wesley and Daniel Jensen were not fit enough for the team training but did return to the pitch for some laps. While Jensen passed his minor stress test for his knee problem by jogging some laps, the Brazilian midfielder Wesley had a somewhat more intense session with some interval runs on the training grounds with physiotherapist Sven Plagge.
A few yards away, defender Dominik Schmidt was busy working on his comeback. There was less good news about Claudio Pizarro and Tim Borowski, the latter of whom was in bed Tuesday with a fever and could not train. Assistant coach Matthias Hönerbach said "Piza" was dealing with a "stiff neck" and will have to "go a bit slower" in the coming sessions. Both Pizarro and Borowski were not in the later afternoon session.
