The Werder group has arrived in Jerez de la Frontera. Spain? Wasn't there something special there? The term "Tiki-Taka" is the Spanish short passing game of nearly never-ending ball circulation made famous by Barcelona and the Spanish national team. It has become feared in world football. That's reason enough for WERDER.DE to switch its column "Short news" to "Tiki-Taka" during the training camp in Jerez from 8-17 January 2014.

+++ The boss is coming: SV Werder's U23 team will also be travelling to Spain on Saturday. The Regionalliga team will prepare for the second half of the season in Chiclana, which is about 30 kilometres away from Jerez and is also where Werder's first opponents in the second half Eintracht Braunschweig are holding their winter training camp. On board - as of now - will also be manager of sport Thomas Eichin, who had to work through some appointments and can now travel to Spain. The return is planned for Friday 17 January 2014 and is expected to be with the team. But you never know what can come between now and then ... +++

+++ Always ready for a sip: Santiago Garcia has an absolute favourite drink. The Argentinean more or less drinks Mate around the clock. Mate is an infusion drink widespread in South America made from the Mate tree. And ‘Santi' has a specially-designed vessel for the drink. Whether it's on the way to the pitch or in the changing room - he will not let go of the dice cup from which he drinks the caffeinated drink. +++

+++ Di Santo sees green: Werder haven't even played a test match and striker Franco Di Santo has already seen a card - albeit one about which he can be happy. While yellow and red cards are handed out in football, the Cadiz region also has the green card, which Di Santo received for his friendly smile. Referees show the card to players who stick out positively for fair play actions. After training Friday, Enrique Callaero Espinosa had a picture taken with Di Santo and the green card to raise awareness for the action. We give it a thumbs up! +++

+++ Room-mates as always: Looking at the list of room-mates shows that Philipp Bargfrede and Sebastian Mielitz are sharing a room in Jerez. Is that the first time? No way! Bargfrede and Mielitz have been room-mates since the U17s. And there is no problem with privacy. "If you know everything about each other, that doesn't matter," admitted ‘Miele'.
