The Werder group has arrived in Jerez de la Frontera. Spain? Wasn't there something special there? The term "Tiki-Taka" is the Spanish short passing game of nearly never-ending ball circulation made famous by Barcelona and the Spanish national team. It has become feared in world football. That's reason enough for WERDER.DE to switch its column "Short news" to "Tiki-Taka" during the training camp in Jerez from 8-17 January 2014.
+++ Hotel personnel quicker than the wind: To help give SV Werder Bremen players perfect training conditions from the first day on, the personnel at team hotel Barcelo Montecastillo turned the training grounds into a "cage" of fencing before Werder's arrival. Since the fencing blocked the Werder fans' view of the players, head coach Robin Dutt asked for it to be removed. "Our fans know what they can do at training and what not. So, the fencing was more of a disturbance," said Dutt about the training grounds. +++
+++ Paco Soto - the Jerez icon: Whether it's for Real Madrid, Manchester United or the Spanish national team: Paco Soto has made sure that these teams have had the best training grounds in Spain since 1991. Soto is the groundskeeper for the training grounds of the sports grounds at Barcelo Montegastillo in Jerez. Soto also maintained the grounds while Borussia Dortmund and Hannover held their training camps here. Werder head coach Robin Dutt was impressed with the conditions and their keeper. "The grounds are like his sanctuary and you can tell. It's fantastic how much passion he puts into his work," said the 48-year-old Dutt about the Jerez icon Soto. +++
+++ Late departure because of excess baggage: A couple of extra pounds from the Christmas break were not the reason that the Airbus A320 including Werder's delegation, journalists and fans didn't take off until 9:17 a.m. Wednesday morning from City Airport Bremen. The nearly 20-minute delay resulted because there was too much baggage on board with about 4.8 tons. But that was not a problem for the boarding personnel, which reacted quickly and provided for a smooth departure. +++
