The Werder group has arrived in Jerez de la Frontera. Spain? Wasn't there something special there? The term "Tiki-Taka" is the Spanish short passing game of nearly never-ending ball circulation made famous by Barcelona and the Spanish national team. It has become feared in world football. That's reason enough for WERDER.DE to switch its column "Short news" to "Tiki-Taka" during the training camp in Jerez from 8-17 January 2014.
+++ Tough decision: The World Footballer of the Year 2013 will be announced tonight in Zurich. Football's world body FIFA has been awarding this honor since 1991. The three candidates are Franck Ribéry from treble winners Bayern Munich, Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid and multiple winner Lionel Messi of FC Barcelona. There is not unison within SVW about who should be the winner. Head coach Robin Dutt believes Ribéry will win while assistant Damir Buric thinks Cristiano Ronaldo is most worthy. Both have good arguments for their picks. Who is your world footballer? +++

+++ A familiar face in Jerez: The Werder players received a surprise visit at the test match against NEC Nijmegen. When the match kicked off, Marko Marin was suddenly on the sidelines. The former Werder player currently lives in Seville and is on loan from Chelsea to FC Seville. Marin gladly made the one-hour trip to the site of the SVW's training camp. "I wanted to show my face again. I was really happy to see ‘Iggy' again. I haven't seen him since I have been away from Bremen," said Marin about why he showed up. +++
