SV Werder Bremen are ready to face the challenges of the future with confidence and unity. That was the message of a meeting Monday morning between the supervisory board chairman Willi Lemke, supervisory board member Marco Bode and the Werder management with Klaus Filbry, Thomas Eichin and Klaus-Dieter Fischer. The group had a very constructive discussion about current issues.
Lemke made it clear that he welcomed the discussion initiated about new possibilities to finance SV Werder. "Corporate responsibility was always a characteristic of doing business for Werder and I see no reason why we shouldn't talk about sensible solutions if the risk is controllable. Most important for me is to continue the path we've started towards economic rationality to make the Werder company fit for the future," said Lemke.
The management signalled its support of the supervisory board chairman's comments. "Of course we have not been absolved from looking for creative solutions in light of the welcome business deals with international partners from the past few days. We head into the talks with the supervisory board about concrete strategies very constructively," said management chairman Filbry. Eichin added: "What's important is that there is a direction. We will deal with the situation responsibly and only act on the transfer market if it's absolutely necessary and we are fully convinced."
Fischer, who initiated the talks last week, was happy that the discussion took place Monday morning in an atmosphere fitting for such an important debate. "The meeting today was the starting point to deal with urgent questions together with all bodies. I have a good feeling that every one of us is looking for solutions in which SV Werder is the focus," said Fischer.
