Finally! The Green-Whites have brought home their second straight victory. Werder were unable to get that done during the entire 2012 calendar year but accomplished it with their 4-1 win in Stuttgart. "After the equalizer by Stuttgart, the game could have gone the other direction. But we had the confidence that helped us overcome the situation and keep going. Nobody lost their head all of a sudden. The match against Hannover certainly helped us there. This victory will also help us in that regard," said head coach Thomas Schaaf after the deserved win.
WERDER.DE compiled the reaction after the match:
Sebastian Mielitz: "We really believed that we could win this second game in a row. The Hannover match last week was very important. It was really a totally different match today. We entered the game here in Stuttgart with a really good feeling. You could tell that, even if it didn't go well right away. The team is just in form."
Thomas Schaaf: "Stuttgart really went at it in the beginning. We were too passive and were put under pressure, having to survive two big chances for Stuttgart. Then we found our way into the match and had a very solid performance."
Mehmet Ekici: "It's not like I haven't played any games here. Certainly things haven't always gone as I had imagined. But I always knew what I could do. And I worked with a team and a coach who always had my back in tough times. I am really very happy today."
Lukas Schmitz: "We shouldn't talk too much about it but just keep on working and getting points."
