Predrag Stevanovic is transferring with immediate effect from the U23 team of Schalke to Werder Bremen. The 19-year-old Serbian, who has already played for the Serbian U17 and U19 national teams, signed a contract with the Green-Whites until the summer of 2014. "Predrag is a very talented player for the offensive midfield, who was already in Schalke's professional squad. We are convinced that he can continue his development with us very well," said manager Klaus Allofs in the afternoon.
"I am so happy that it worked out with Werder Bremen. My goal is to become a Bundesliga player here," said Stevanovic, who will regularly take part in professional training with Werder and play initially with Werder's U23 team. The Essen native already completed his first training session with his new teammates on Thursday.
Also at the afternoon training was "Samuel" Firmino de Jesus. The 24-year-old Brazilian last played for FC Sao Paulo Futebol Clube in the Brazilian Campeonato Brasileiro Série A - the Brazilian top league. "He is a defender who can play both centre back and full back," said Allofs about the left-footed player. "We would gladly pick him up for the second half and are testing right now to what conditions that is possible," added the manager.
