Predrag Stevanovic had to undergo an operation on the lateral collateral ligament of his left knee on Wednesday 22 May 2013. "I had pain again in training. We took a look and saw that something was there again and then decided I needed an operation," said the Werder midfielder. The surgery was done by Dr. Thore Zantop in Platting.
Stevanovic has since returned to Bremen to continue his rehab program at the RehaZentrum Bremen under the supervision of team doctor Götz Dimanski. "It's getting better day by day. But right now I can't do anything more than work on my upper body. I will increase the program step by step," said the 22-year-old, who must wear a splint for three weeks before he can bend the knee again.
The older of the Stevanovic brothers suffered a knee injury in September 2012 in a U23 match against VfB Lübeck. It was his first and last competitive match of the season. The problem re-occurred during rehab in Düsseldorf to delay his return. Stevanovic finally made his way back to the Green-Whites team training in the first week of May.
The midfielder expects to miss "a number of months" after the latest incident. "I would like to be healthy again and finally be able to play without problems for a longer period," said Stevanovic.
