Modern, attractive and innovative - these are some of the attributes given to Werder Bremen's Weser Stadium. The curved sections have been straightened and moved to the edge of the pitch. They are completely roofed and finished with the most modern infrastructure. The East and West tribunes behind the goals have been given much improved "insides". These renovations are examples for the new face of SV Werder's home.
As part of the renovations, the new fortress also received the world's largest integrated photovoltaic stadium system - and that with significant support of the sponsors EWE and swb. The new improvements of Weser Stadium were presented on Tuesday 27 September 2011 by Ulf Brommelmeier, Peter Göttelmann (both EWE AG) as well as Frank Steinhardt (swb AG) with Werder's manager for marketing, management and finances Klaus Filbry in a nearly two hour walk.
"A lot of heart's blood was put into Weser Stadium in the last couple years. The stadium now has a very unique character. We have strongly improved the amenity value for our fans. Now that things are complete, we have a great stadium atmosphere. The players also respect that. We also came up with some innovative highlights with the integrated roof conception," said Filbry.
