SV Werder Bremen on Thursday declared a nationwide stadium ban for the seven convicts from the lawsuit from the attack at the East Curve Hall at Weser Stadium in January 2007.
The convicts in the lawsuit in September filed a confession and were punished with fines. The stadium bans are valid until 30 June 2015. Five of the seven convicts were handed a stadium ban until 2013 due to an incident in the Bundesliga game between Cologne and Werder Bremen in February 2011. Those bans were extended the two additional years.
"We are happy that we could finally act. We at Werder Bremen have zero tolerance towards violence and discrimination," said Klaus-Dieter Fischer, president of the SV "Werder" von 1899 e.V.
Nationwide stadium bans are valid for visits of all events in the top four leagues, the German Football Federation and the League Association. The clubs and institutions authorize each other to declare such punishment.
