The winter preparations for the second half of the Bundesliga second half came to an end with the final training Friday afternoon. Head coach Thomas Schaaf had worries about a number of veterans in the past few days, but most of them were able to be ready for the game against Kaiserslautern (starting at 6:15 p.m. in live ticker on WERDER.DE). Clemens Fritz, Philipp Bargfrede, Marko Arnautovic and Claudio Pizarro all completed the final training sessions without problems and could be nominated for the Bundesliga game roster.

Schaaf nominated the following 16 players for the game at Kaiserslautern: Wiese, Vander, Schmitz, Sokratis, Silvestre, Prödl, Bargfrede, Ignjovski, Fritz, Ekici, Trybull, Arnautovic, Rosenberg, Pizarro, Füllkrug, Hartherz.

"These nominations are a reflection of the preparations. You could see who worked themselves into the roster," said Schaaf after the session. Tom Trybull and Niclas Füllkrug both were nominated after impressing the coach during the winter preparations. For Füllkrug it was the first nomination for a Bundesliga match. After 19 appearances in the third division, four goals for Werder's U23 side and a good preparation, this is another highlight for the 18-year-old. An appearance against Kaiserslautern would be a debut for one of the veterans as Mikael Silvestre would be making his first appearance in a competitive match this season after playing the full 90 minutes against Hansa Rostock.
