Fans looking for Wesley on Werder's training grounds Friday went home unsatisfied as the Brazilian missed Friday's final training for the Green-Whites and will not make the trip to Hamburg. "He is still injured. It is not enough for a nomination," said head coach Thomas Schaaf after the nearly hour-long afternoon session. Wesley's good training showings recently gave fans hope for a comeback. But the North Derby will in the end take place without the Brazilian.
Instead, two recently Werder injured players Tim Borowski and Dominik Schmidt returned to the squad. In addition, Aaron Hunt, who was fighting toe problems in the middle of the week, and Sandro Wagner (sickness and lack of training) will both be available for the Hamburg match. Right on time at 4:30 p.m. the entire Werder group boarded the team bus to start Mission Derby victory.
The following 18 players are taking the trip to Hamburg: Mielitz, Wiedwald, Pasanen, Borowski, Arnautovic, Fritz, Avdic, Marin, Hunt, Prödl, Silvestre, Kroos, Wagner, Frings, Mertesacker, Trinks, Schmidt, Bargfrede.
