Marko Arnautovic will miss Werder's home game against Bayern Munich on Saturday due to shin and calf bruising, and Dominik Schmidt (muscle tear) and Daniel Jensen (knee problems) will also, as expected, not be fit in time for the 20th game day.

But a former Bayern player will be back on board for Bremen as Tim Borowski completed the final training session of the week without a problem and returns to the Werder squad following his ankle injury. Also in the game squad is Florian Trinks as head coach Thomas Schaaf nominated the youth striker for the first time to a Bundesliga roster.

As they left the pitch for the changing room, the Werder players were met by more than just the usual fans and autograph seekers. At the exit of the training grounds stood a small goal decorated with messages and well-wishes to the team, which the players took time to recognise. The Radio Bremen station had asked listeners the last few days to put together small greetings and place them on the net of the goal. Maybe the Werder players can follow their fans' lead on Saturday and leave a few greetings in the net of the Bayern goal.

These 18 were nominated for the squad for the Bayern match:
Wiese, Mielitz - Pasanen, Mertesacker, Prödl, Silvestre, Fritz, Balogun, Frings, Bargfrede, Borowski, Hunt, Kroos, Marin, Wagner, Avdic, Trinks, Pizarro
