Sokratis and the Greece national team were eliminated from Euro 2012 after a 4-2 loss against a clearly better Germany in the quarter-finals. Werder's defender played the entire match and was one of his team's best players. He received a yellow card in the 75th minute. But all told, he could do very little against the numerous chances of the Germans.
The goals for Germany were scored by Philipp Lahm (39th), Sami Khedira (61st), Miroslav Klose (68th) and Marco Reus (74th) while Georgios Samaras (55th) and Dimitrios Salpingidis (89th - penalty) struck for the Greeks. While the Greeks were eliminated from the tournament in Poland and Ukraine, the Germans will take on the winner of England and Italy on 28 June 2012 in the semi-finals.
