+++ Welcome back Sebastian Prödl: Werder's centre back is back along the Weser after his torn knee ligament and weeks-long rehab in Herxheim. Prödl went through the running session with his teammates Monday morning in the Bürgerpark. "I feel good," said the 27-year-old. Werder coach Viktor Skripnik was also happy to see the Austrian international back with the team. "I talked to him. He is anxious and really wants to help the team. Of course we are all hoping that he can come back completely as soon as possible. But we must have patience and wait for the green light from the doctor," said Skripnik. Still, Prödl was able to go through drills with the ball. +++

+++ All clear for Casteels and Bartels: The injury to Werder keeper Koen Casteels is not as serious as feared. The Belgian suffered a "slightly broken nose" in training on Sunday but Casteels said: "That isn't stopping me. I will train on Wednesday with a mask. I know that from my injury in 2012. My dad is sending me the mask by express mail," said the keeper with a grin. There is also good news about Fin Bartels as the minor toe injury did not keep him from taking part in the running session to begin the week. +++

+++ Luki, the birthday boy: Assani Lukimya celebrated his 29th birthday last Sunday. After the 3-2 test match win at Hannover 96 on Saturday, the birthday celebrations were that much better. WERDER.DE wish him a belated Happy Birthday! +++

+++ Last chance for Makiadi: There will be a real final Monday evening for Cedrick Makiadi as the Werder player and the Democratic Republic of Congo face group leaders Tunisia in the third and final group match in the Africa Cup of Nations. The 30-year-old has been forced to sit out with patella tendon problems and he hopes to play against Tunisia. A victory would send Makiadi and his team into the quarter-finals. +++
