+++ Close, but no cigar: The Austrian national team faced off against Iceland Friday night in front of 13,800 spectators at Innsbruck's Tivoli Stadium, and even though they led 1-0 after 28 minutes the Austrians could not keep the lead, playing to a 1-1 draw. Zlatko Junuzovic was subbed out after 86 minutes in favour of Julian Baumgartlinger while Sebastian Prödl did not play. ‘Juno' missed a chance to perhaps give his team the victory but he failed to convert a good opportunity in the 67th minute. The Austrians return to the pitch on Tuesday 3 June 2014 with a friendly against the Czech Republic. +++

+++ On a good path: While Germany's senior national team finishes off their preparations for the World Cup in Brazil, the German U19 team is fighting to reach the 2014 European Championship in Greece. Marcus Sorg's team is facing Lithuania, Denmark and Spain in Vigo, Spain. Werder forward Davie Selke is one of 18 Germans trying to qualify for the tournament. After beating Lithuania (2-0) and Denmark (4-0), the Germans take on Spain on Thursday 5 June 2014 at 8:30 p.m. +++

+++ Summer, sun, sunshine: This seems to be motto for Werder players as they travel around the world. After Luca Caldirola spent a few days of his holidays with his girlfriend in Paris, now they are relaxing along the Mediterranean. The Werder defender posted pictures of himself in swimming trunks on his official Instagram profile. Nils Petersen wasn't quite as "revealing" but the forward did post pictures from Tenerife on Facebook. +++

+++ Double marriage: The summer break isn't just for holidays. Aleksandar Stevanovic and Fin Bartels both proved that. Stevanovic married his long-time girlfriend Karina in Essen on the weekend while new Werder acquisition Bartels also tied the knot on the weekend with his girlfriend Jessika. WERDER.DE says congratulations to both newlywed parties. +++
