Magic in Oldenburg: While the Bundesliga is still on winter break, former stars of Werder Bremen, Hamburg, Bayer Leverkusen, Mönchengladbach, Galatasaray and VfB Oldenburg will face off on Friday 3 January 2014 for an indoor tournament at the Oldenburg EWE Arena. And it promises to have some real stars! Playing for Werder will be Oliver Reck, Ivan Klasnic, Frank Baumann, Fabian Ernst, Ailton and plenty more. The All-Star teams kick off the action at 5:30 p.m. Those who cannot experience the action live in the arena can watch the entire event on Sport1. +++
+++ Unbelievable 600,000 Werder fans: Werder's fan community on Facebook reached the next impressive benchmark as Werder's official Facebook page has 600,000 fans. It was a good two months ago that the Green-Whites broke the half-million mark. And now Bremen fans "liked" Werder to the next mark. Thank you very much. +++
+++ Akpala injured: In the last match of the first half of the Turkish Süper Lig, loaned striker Joseph Akpala suffered an injury playing for Kardemir Karabükspor. The Nigerian was subbed out in the 73rd minute of the match against Sivasspor with a torn Achilles tendon. It's a major setback for Akpala, who had really been playing well with four goals recently. Now he will miss the entire second half of the season. Get well soon, Joseph! +++
+++ The best Christmas videos: Luca Caldirola provided a real Werder Christmas highlight on 24 December on his official Facebook page. Along with his to-be father-in-law, Luca sang the Werder song "Wir sind Werder Bremen" - and that completely in German. The Italian wasn't the only Werder player to impress the Green-Whites fans with their talents off the pitch. Eljero Elia showed off his skills driving a quad bike during his Christmas break on Aruba. +++
