"We will come together Wednesday evening and deal with the process of finding a successor after the departure of Klaus Allofs," said Werder Bremen supervisory board chairman Willi Lemke.
Head coach Thomas Schaaf will have a say in the decision since the supervisory board holds the coach's expertise in high regard. "We will take his opinion seriously. He is a very large piece of the heart of this club. We want to put together an environment in which he will not come up with silly thoughts of having to look for a new challenge as well," said Lemke.
The supervisory board boss made it clear that the issue has a great emphasis but it will not be decided in haste. "Our goal must be to fill the hole as quickly as possible left by Klaus Allofs. But we will proceed very diligently because this position represents an important determining factor in the development of SV Werder Bremen. I will not promise anyone here and now that we will come back next week to present someone to the public," said Lemke.
Allofs handed over his current business dealings Wednesday afternoon to his assistant Frank Baumann. "Baumi will stand alongside Thomas Schaaf in the coming days to make sure things get taken care of for the Bundesliga team right now," added Lemke.
