Werder left back Lukas Schmitz had only had one practice this year but the 25-year-old made his training debut in Jerez on Thursday.
After overcoming his bout with the flu, Schmitz went through the full Green-Whites team training together with Aaron Hunt, Nils Petersen and Co.
"I tested myself individually this morning and noticed relative quickly that I am fit and healthy again. The cold is gone. It goes by fast here with this weather. I was able to go through the whole training in the afternoon. I am fully back," said Schmitz after his return. That gives head coach Robin Dutt one more option for the next group of intensive trainings.
The Werder coach must wait a bit longer on Zlatko Junuzovic. Even though the Austrian international completed a light running session without any problems, ‘Zladdi' still needs some time to get back from his hairline foot fracture. "I can tell that it's getting better each day. I survived running pretty well. But I cannot do too much too early. Step by step, I would like to return to team training," said Junuzovic after his current state of health.
Werder players will be back training Friday morning with Dutt calling for the fourth training in Jerez de la Frontera at 10 a.m. Junuzovic will most likely once again go through an individual program.
