The North-South derby is right around the corner as Bayern Munich are coming to Weser Stadium on Saturday. Despite a difficult phase, Bremen will do their best to prepare for the game against the German record champions. "We are training with all we have," said head coach Thomas Schaaf on Tuesday. "Every day we are working on various areas, both altogether and in small groups. We are studying the tactics and working on our mistakes."
And the coach knows that the decimated Werder squad is not exactly the favourites facing the Champions League semi-finalists. "It's clear that we are the underdogs when looking at the facts. Bayern will hold their own regardless of which team they send out there. But it's not important to me what the opponents do. I cannot influence how they prepare. I am only watching us. If we give our very best we can win - regardless of who is on the pitch," said Schaaf.
Until Saturday, Schaaf wants to work on the team and try to avoid the mistakes they made against Stuttgart. "The team is still frustrated about the weak match against Stuttgart. We are still a little aggravated but we have a chance to show that we can do better," said the coach. Have the players understood the training measures? "We will see that on Saturday."
